Where to meet safely when buying second-hand up north
Utaralah2026-08-044 min read

Most deals up north still happen face to face. A good meeting spot protects both sides: it is public, well lit, and has CCTV.
Safe spots that work
- Mall entrances in Alor Setar, Sungai Petani and Butterworth
- 24-hour petrol station forecourts on the main road
- Balai polis visitor parking for higher-value items
- Bank lobbies with ATMs if cash is changing hands
Before you go
- Confirm the price and condition over WhatsApp first
- Tell a family member where you are going and when
- Bring a friend for bulky items — you will need help lifting
- Test electrical items on the spot before paying
If a seller refuses to meet in public or pushes for a deposit before you see the item, walk away.
